Message from the Head of ISTP, Philippe Dietz

It is with great pleasure that I am writing to you to describe an event that is not only extremely valuable for our young minds and bodies but also dear to my heart.

Healthy food and good eating habits need to be taught at an early age both in schools and in families and are essential for the well being of our children. That is why ISTP has always believed in the following Latin motto “Mens sana in corpore sano” and has promoted this value by providing a quality lunch program to its students for a large number of years.

So, when Chef Philippe Bressolier approached ISTP last year about launching a French tradition called “La semaine du goût” (Taste Week), the only answer possible was yes.

Mr. Bressolier’s idea was to bring Taste Week to California and to teach children about the art of good eating. He used ISTP as a Beta School and the first Taste Week started with classroom activities and culminated with an October 14 luncheon where all the Elementary and Middle School students enjoyed the delightful cooking of Chef Bressolier and a wide variety of flavors.

During that week, students had the opportunity to participate in activities with a wide variety of educational goals including:
  • Enhancing the awareness and knowledge of the young consumer.
  • Initiating students to a wide variety of flavors and tastes
  • Offering objective information on the origin and quality of various types of food.
It was a success and we look forward to expanding it even more and to promote the essential values of good eating habits.

Sincerely, Philippe Dietz
